GRATITUDE

GRATITUDE

His sovereignty is known to all who believe in Him. He showcases His love to all who are counted as His creation. With a genuine heart, He cared for us, at the expense of His precious Son.

God’s love for us supersedes any form of understanding known to man. A love like His is one to die for. The love He shows to us is beyond comparison.

However, do we appreciate it enough?

When you look back at your life till now, can you boldly identify all instances where you have showed gratitude to God for everything He did for you? You’ve been found wanting right?

This brings to mind a song we may have all sung while growing up…

When upon life billows, you’re tempest tossed…

When you’re discouraged and thinking all is lost,

Count your blessings and name them one by one,

And it will surprise you what the Lord has done…”

We mostly allow our earthly nature to take over our reasoning and actions. Most of us proudly believe in ourselves to readily thank the Lord for all that He has done, will do and is doing in our lives. But are you sure you are doing it the right way?

Do you render utmost gratitude to God in good and bad times? Or only show up to thank Him when things are going smoothly for you, and completely forget about Him when you believe your life is taking a different turn?

Before you question God about supposed “ill occurrences” in your life, have you looked back at how long He’s been showing u

p for you?

Just take time to count your blessings, you would be surprised as to how much He’s been doing for you.

Also, we find ourselves in a dispensation where we are all looking out for “the next big thing” to happen in our lives. Immediately we are able to conquer a particular problem or ace our opponents in our respective fields, we begin to look out for the next goal to achieve, forgetting the most important thing to do; showing gratitude to God for the success, and asking for grace for the next step to take. This attitude has become a norm in that we are even tempted to believe that we can handle our lives on our own.

When the Psalmist said in Psalm 100:4 that we should;

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!

He didn’t solely mean that we should literally sing praises in the house of God. Rather to also thank God for previous achievements, successes, deliverances and even the bad occurrences, before taking up a new goal to achieve. With this, you also usher  God into the task ahead and who wouldn’t win when God is a part of his life?

God himself knows about the blessings that come with gratitude and for the love He has for us, He would want all of us to partake in these blessings. Remember, all God asks of us is mostly for our good, only when we go in accordance to them. (Romans 8:28)

So take time out of this busy world, to always show how grateful you are to Him, in order not to be caught up in the desires of this world.
