WHAT HAPPENS AFTER HERE?

What happens after here?

After people have passed on, we often see their obituaries with inscriptions like, ‘A life well lived’, ‘Called to Glory’,  and ‘What a shock!’ These themes are mostly used to describe the sentiments of the family and friends. Most times, they are used to eulogize the deceased. Often times, the ‘buts’ of the deceased are never mentioned. It is only the positive traits that are highlighted, in order to imprint good memories of the deceased in the hearts of all.

We can never be against any of these. After all, honor is to be given to whom honor is deemed. These acts are actually excellent ways of remembering the lost loved ones. The mere actions taken to eulogize them shows how important they were.

However, the worry lies with what happens after death. What happens after the eulogies and tributes? After the celebration of their lives on earth and the prayers for a better place, what really happens to the souls of these people? Would it be in eternity with the Father, or in the lake of fire?

We keep forgetting that our walk on this earth is supposed to be a temporal one and end up succumbing to its comfort and luxury. Mind you, although we are in this world, we are not of it and we will never be (John 17:16). We are only sojourners who hope to be reunited with their Father in due time. However, it is quite unfortunate that we keep forgetting that and allow ourselves to charmed by the pleasures of the world; the riches, fame and fun. All these divert our attention from our purpose of being here. You and I have a purpose for which we are in existence.                                                                           If you allow yourself to be distracted, you would only end up occupying space on earth and would die without achieving your assigned purpose.

We are the physical representation of Christ on earth, and have been called to walk in His footsteps. We are to live as He did, while he was on earth and this sets us apart as His children. This is to say that we need to strive to be more like Him by continuously engaging in Word and always communicating with Him through prayer.

Nevertheless, we are not to selfishly bask in  His goodness alone. You must strive to get everyone onboard the kingdom ‘train’. No one must be left behind! The price that Christ paid must never be in vain.

Each one of us needs to gracefully walk in His will and purpose for us. In due time, we would be reunited with Him.
